Would be a great scanner. Loved it. But was advertised to be capable to be used on Commercial HD Trucks. However, it is not. Wasted my time on that one. That is why only 3 stars. Incorrect advertising and description.Update with more Details:Trying to find the right scanner I was able to compare this ThinkTool with comparable models of its competitors.ThinkTool: Great User Interface, Topology module is awesome, overall wanted to love it. But I needed HD Truck capability and despite advertised as such it wasn't able to do that. Which is what their tech support confirmed. I compared this to MaxiCom MK908 and a Launch431Pro3S+HDIII. The MK908 hardare is awesome quality. But the interface is very cumbersome. Worst I have seen. And what is worse, the software is very incomplete. I.e. missing many functions on a Range Rover and BMW which the other competitors have no problem with. Eventhough I didn't get this for HD Truck, I loved the hardware. Unfortunately the seller sent a used item with 1 months of subscription used up and visible wear on case. Response time was aweful as it was not as claimed an authorized dealer. The Launch431 now does it all. It does the HD Truck, however, be aware that for some you may add subsciption based modules at $199.00 a year. The hardware is comparable with the ThinkTool. The interface is easy to use but not as need and smooth as the ThinkTool. Overall, I REALLY liked the module topology on the ThinkTool Interface. Software was complete and much better than on the MK908. It would have been my favorite if it would have had the advertised HD TRUCK capability.This scanner has a lot of features for the price point. I couldn't get it to work on fca vehicles with secure gateway but ended up finding a solution. You have to choose thinktool pros on autoauth and it works. Customer support is not the best. The seller was way more helpful but this review is t about the seller. O have 2 snap ons and an older launch. This scanner is very capable. It has issues such as the camera doesn't work for vin scan and has some broken English in some of the menus, but don't underestimate this tool.The seller was absolutely amazing I had a little trouble with the tablet but it was fixed through great communication that is something hard to get nowadays thank you SoctechDirectThis is probably the worst scan tool I have ever used. The software makes it completely unusable. I tried it briefly on one car and immediately decided to return it. It didn't do anything that I tried to do correctly, in a way that makes any sense, or is it even usable! It is slow. It didn't find all the modules (2006 chevy trailblazer). Initial scan does not show list of modules and their trouble codes, you have to click each module to see the codes in that module (annoying). Selected power balance, it was an injector kill test without a misfire graphic or any data to determine each cylinders rpm drop from killing an injector, no way to add data (worthless). Looked at misfire graphic, it was a just a simple data stream you had to select yourself that only shows the misfire count pids, no graphic at all (worthless). These both should be graphing the instantaneos speed of the crankshaft while showing cylinder locations on the graph, so you can see which cylinder is slowing down the crankshaft. Not usable for identifiying a misfiring or weak cylinder that isn't showing misfire counts. Tried a bi directional control on the fan clutch. The screen shows you can increase or decrease fan speed, but shows NO data at all! It should show fan speed, commanded or desired fan speed, engine rpm, engine load, that sort of pertinent data automatically. You can add data stream but it's completely unusable because there isn't a selection that will list ALL of the data pids that are available so you can go through submenus and choose data. There are submenus like engine data1, 2, 3, evap, throttle control, etc. So if the data you need is under 3 different menus you can't put it on the screen at the same time you're controlling the fan clutch. It is worthless for testing an electric fan clutch. The live data is terrible in other ways, not only is there not an ALL data menu but each menu doesn't immediately show you the data, you must choose which pids you want FIRST. It's nice to be able scroll through all data to see if anything is obviously out of the ordinary and while doing that you can checkmark the ones you want to look at more closely, this can tool will not do this, You would have to go into each individual data menu separately. If the data you want is under different menus you can't display them together on one screen. The data pids take up too much screen space, you can only see five of them at a time. The data stream is very slow, I did a snap throttle while graphing ONLY engine speed, and it took more than a second to show up on the graph. The scan tool was slow, annoying, senseless, didn't do anything I tried to do correctly, and I didn't see anything I liked about it. It took me longer to write this review than to determine this scan took is junk.Fácil de usar y con varios idiomasI have an old Lexus RX300 that is my work car. I drive it 120 miles a day and only bought it to keep the miles off of my Jeep Wrangler. The Lexus has chronic check engine light issues and keeping the dash light off has become a very expensive hobby. This tool has been instrumental in helping me know whether I have to pull over now, send it to the shop soon, or simply reset and go on my merry way.Recently I had knock sensor issues (a major Lexus issue). When that code goes off the car goes into "limp mode" and won't shift into overdrive. That means 60 miles or more to get home at 45mph max. This tool allowed me to reset the light and get home on two separate occasions before I spent the nearly $2k on the repair.I don't really like carrying it around but its kept me from being stranded and also keeps me informed. For that it gets 5 stars.It's compact, affordable, and does more then just read codes! It also clears codes, checks O2 sensors, other sensors, and checks for smog test readiness. It's easy to use, and even has a code lookup library, so it tells you what the code error means for most cars! It also reads the vin number of the car off of the computer!Arrived super fast! Basic functions easy enough for to a novice to read. Found this after watching a mechanic on YouTube. There maybe other functions but I just purchased it for basic code scan for a check engine light on my 6 year old car. It indicates a bad O2 sensor. Folks these are also good to have if shopping a used car. If a check engine light has been temporarily reset this tool may help see a potential problem. So glad this tool is affordable it’s worth it.
